A Walt Disney World vacation is a fantastic way to spend time and make memories with your family but it can get expensive very fast. As a family of four that travels to the “World” every year we like to find fun stuff to do that saves us money but is enjoyable and fun at the same time. Here are our top five free things to do at Disney World that add to the magic but save you money!

This is a fun interactive game played in the Magic Kingdom. Pick up your free pack of cards at the Firehouse on Main Street USA and a Cast Member will give you a map and instructions on how to play. Each mission will send you on a chase throughout the park to try and stop the Villains’ takeover of the Magic Kingdom. Try to collect as many cards as you can to make stronger spells. During the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, special limited-edition cards are given to players who attend the party. There are also carrying cases for cards, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Trading Card Home Game and Gameboard and other SOTMK for sale at some shops in Magic Kingdom. This is our oldest son’s favorite thing to do after we have finished all the attractions and the park is open late. He loves to go on the missions at night and collect rare cards for the game.

Although it isn’t free to start pin trading, you can find starter sets for $26 on Disneystore.com. They come with pins and a lanyard or you can find lots of pins for sale on eBay for $5. You can pick a pin theme that shows your interest in a resort hotel, park, character, movie etc. The choices are endless and once you have Disney pins to trade let the fun begin! Cast members in all parks have lanyards filled with pins; all you have to do is ask to take a look. You never know you just might trade for a pin you’ve been looking for! Club Cool is located in Epcot’s Innoventions West and sponsored by Coca-Cola.

This is my family’s favorite place to go on a hot day in Florida. They always have the air-condition low and the eight different sodas from around the world ice cold at Flavors of Club Cool. You can also purchase Coca-Cola themed merchandise. If you stop by, don’t forget to try the Beverly from Italy- it is “delizioso”!

This fun activity, whether on the beach, poolside or surrounded by your resort’s lush grounds, enjoy a relaxing evening with entertainment that’s fun for the whole family! Complimentary movie screenings are available to guests of Walt Disney World Resort hotels. During holidays the resorts will show movies that coincide with the specific holidays and it really gets us into the spirit. Some resorts offer free marshmallows to roast or S’mores kits for a small fee. So, roast your marshmallows, grab a seat, relax and unwind from a fun day at the parks with Movies Under the Stars! For movie schedules, please check with the front desk at your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel.

Located on the Seven Seas Lagoon, this 15 minute light and Disney music show has been a must see for us each year. The resorts surrounding the Seven Seas Lagoon are: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort & Bay Lake Tower, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort & Campground. If your room faces the lagoon, you can watch from the comfort of your balcony or you can head down to the beach surrounding your resort. Bring snacks down, have a seat and make sure not to miss the ending – it is sure to bring a patriotic tear to your eye! Be sure to check with the resort front desk for show times.
